CAST has published a new technical report showcasing the performance of Precision Time Protocol (PTP) over Optical Transport Networks (OTN), reporting significant advancements in timing accuracy to under 100 nanoseconds with the application of asymmetry compensation techniques. The report summarizes experiments conducted in partnership with Western Area Power Administration (WAPA). These results demonstrate the reliability of PTP for time transfer across OTNs and underscore its potential as a robust alternative for enhancing the timing infrastructure in electric power distribution.
