This technical bulletin on Two Way Satellite Time and Frequency Transfer (TWSTFT) explores the possibility of using this technology as an augmentation and/or replacement for traditional GPS time synchronization. While very useful, GPS (and other GNSS) suffer from problems such as jamming, spoofing, and malfunctioning equipment. This technical bulletin demonstrates the limits and quantifies the performance of a geographically disparate TWSTFT network using commercial off the shelf (COTS) hardware.
